Mothers and allomothers birthed civilization

Some guy wrote it down and called it a revelation

which is ironic, given one of the tenets is ‘don’t steal’

‘Be kind’ doesn’t feel revolutionary when mothers have been preaching it since the beginning of time

Wow sweetie, great job!

Women are soft, gentle, sweet … you’re so close to getting it!

‘Help each other’ feels mundane when she insists you carry your neighbor’s groceries inside before playing with your friends

Nicely done, pumpkin

When she forgets her coat in winter because she was making sure you have yours, it’s not denial of Self, it’s just what mothers do

Giving to those less fortunate, what a great idea baby!

If you think rousing speeches and silk make empathy divine, then maybe

You forget that mothers don’t need some dude’s instruction to hold their babies close and teach their children to love each other

If you want to bow to the one in whose image you were made, then kneel to your goddesses
